For the past 9 years, I have been working at a factory that makes lots of different types of metal products.
- We fulfill orders and provide excellent customer service throughout every step of the process.
We make materials that are used in iron work and construction. We offer a variety of different sizes in rebar tie wire, rebar, double loop wire ties, and wire coils. I was working on a machine that coils the rebar tie wire. The machine does not work very fast, so there is very little danger when working on this specific machine. That is probably the reason why I wasn’t paying close attention to my surroundings. I certainly felt like I was comfortable and I didn’t notice when the machine started making a weird sound. When I noticed the weird sound, I bent down close to the machine to listen more carefully. That’s when metal shavings came out of the machine and into my eye. It was like a puff of smoke and then I could not see. I had to be taken to the emergency room in order to have my eye flushed. I could have done that at the factory, but my boss was afraid that we would do damage to the eye. It didn’t take long for the doctor to remove all of the metal shavings and there was no permanent damage to my eye or my retina. It was a very odd and strange thing to happen and I am very glad that it was not a much more serious or deadly accident.
